Programming
A typical Bouchercon has more than 600 author requests for a panel seat and this is to fill about 350 panel seats. We will do our best to maximize the participation of authors on the panels. Unfortunately, it is never possible to accommodate absolutely everyone who wishes to serve on a panel.
Some criteria we will be using to fill our panel slots will be:
- We will consider those authors who have registered for Bouchercon 2012 by June 30th.
- We will give preference to authors who are published by established, independent publishers.
- We will also give preference to authors who have a large body of work in the crime fiction field- although we will attempt to give space (when feasible) to new authors.
- We will give panels slots to some subject-matter experts who don't otherwise meet author criteria.
In order to accommodate as many authors as possible, we're limiting authors to one panel. As with anything, there will be exceptions, including, but not limited to, Guests of Honor who may be on more than one panel, or an author that may be a panelist and a moderator on a separate panel.
We hope to make most panel assignments at the end of July and to notify panelists as soon as possible thereafter. We'll provide you with the panel information and list of the other panelists and moderator so that the group may begin coordinating their topic.
